CSS based ‘position:fixed’ in IE6. No flickering!

Read this tutorial to find out how to implement CSS based ‘position: fixed’ for IE6 under MS Windows. Our task was to create a stretchable image which will be laying underneath page’s content and would always fill the whole area of browser window.

We positioned the image via CSS using ‘position:fixed’ but the IE6 does not support this property. Our first idea was to implement it via jQuery (as we’ve been implementing it for a jQuery-based website.) It worked fine but the background image was flickering when user scrolled page.

After some research our guys found this tutorial and we wanted to share it with you. The code works great in IE6, no flickering, tested! ;)
